AYCJ -- day 1 -- burlington, VT

not a whole lot to say since i was in the air until just before the stroke of midnight, but ...

jetblue is a great airline.  the seats have plenty of room.  lots of tasty blue potato chips.  all the flight attendants were gracious.  from a comfort point of view, if there was any one airline in the US you'd want to have a pass on it would have to either be these guys or virgin america.

i was surprised that none of the attendants seemed to know that today was the first day of AYCJ.  the funniest comment was from an attendant who listened to me just rattle on about the trip and she said, "you sound like you just won a prize on a game show!"

i also didn't run across any other fellow AYCJrs ... but that's not too surprising considering i started in OAK (the bay area snooties have an axe to grind with oakland in nearly all forms) and JB is essentially an east coast focused (read: east coast supremacist) airline.

best song i heard today (aside from some great ambient stuff on the XM station "chill") was nazareth, 'love hurts." i turned it up, screwed my earbuds in 'til my canals bled and belted it out for the rest of the passengers.

I REALLY LEARNED A LOT
REALLY LEARNED A LOT
LOVE IS LIKE A FLAME
BURNS YOU WHEN IT'S HOT

my netbook is perfect for what i'm doing here.  i probably spent about 60% of my flight time writing, and even after all that, i had over 5 hours of battery life left.  i wrote both an examiner and Re:D article, but did it inside the draft mode of offline gmail and they appear to have died ... no matter, once i've put 'em down on paper it's really easy for me to just bang 'em out again.

walked off one plane at JFK and onto another.  as they say in england, bingo, bango, bongo, bob's your uncle.

tomorrow will be better.  i promise.

the last photo from doomed flight #96*

(*i worked on the t-mobile sidekick in a previous life ... as we were going through development, people with prototypes would always post "the last photo from doomed flight _____" from their 'blogs.  it was a joke, both in that goofy spooky prescient way, but more against the media that seem to always use the term "doomed" to describe aircraft disasters [implying that the powers that be somehow knew it ahead of time]. i was deeply embroiled in the management of development at the time and could never travel -- leaving me out in the cold for the posting game. this title, and all that follow over the many days, is dedicated to those great folks i worked with [nearly all of whom are now working on android and the google phones]. ficus, et al, i salute you and everything you've ever stood for).
