all-you-can-jet -- day 21 -- brooklyn, NY

my accomplice and i have been i NYC and twice we haven't had a decent meal yet.  to make up for this, mr. crypto has suggest having breakfast at shopsin's general store a quirky place that dodges the restaurant health authorities by selling a few goods (and thereby becoming a store).  the proprietor has a reputation for being soup nazi-like.  the food runs the range of sublime to bizarre.

it sounds like a good idea.

when the alarm goes off at 08:00, the stuffy nose i had from the night before has turned into a sore throat.  it's not a bad one, but sickness is very unusual for me.  i can tell it's tapping my energy a bit as we put the pieces in motion to get going.

of course it doesn't hurt that i take a shower in the crypto's greatest set-up in the world:

(they also have the smallest bathroom in the world -- be sure to check out the chair ... this pic taken outside the bathroom
)

we get to shopsin's first.  the menu is voluminous (and i have it on good authority that sometimes stuff is thrown on just to fill up space).

i got yelled at for taking this picture
(by pure chance, one of the big investors in full tilt poker is in the foreground)

i go for the strange-yet-famous mac'n cheese french toast.  it's a little better than i expected (and i was expecting good) and gets a half point extra for being served with real maple syrup.

my accomplice went for a spectacular corned beef hash.  mr. crypto (who is clearly well-known here) opted for latkes.

we parted ways with mr. crytpo and headed over to a place i'd seen on the travel channel on one of the jetblue flights ... the doughnut plant ... legendary for spectacular (if not downright odd) doughnuts.

i got a blackberry (it even has seeds still), my accomplice got a triple chocolate.

a few quick transit connections and we were on the flight to MSY.  i slept almost the entire way.

once in, we got a car, dropped our bags at our room, and headed to the verti marte deli -- the place that makes my favorite sandwich in the world, the all that jazz -- ham, turkey, shrimp, cheese and mushrooms.

(this shot looks directly into the front door of food paradise.)

my accomplice opted for a stuffed pork chop.  (which brought on instantly blasphemy when taken a first bite of.)

i have a lot to say about new orleans, but i'll leave it for later.  for right now, i'm catching up ... which i've done.

for the moment, laissez les bon temps roulez.
